Who is the cafe for?

The Unlock Youth Cafe is for young people between year 7 and 13 to come and hang out with friends, meet new people, chill and game with no need to spend any money. There is not a lot of low cost activities for young people to do in Weaverham  or Northwich that is away from school or home, hence why we have created a space specifically for them, where they feel welcomed, valued and part of the Unlock youth community.

What can you do there?

We have table tennis, table football, pool table, board games, arts & crafts and video games. We also have a chill area with bean bags and sofas to just relax and hang out with friends. There are low-priced drinks and snacks catered to young people's tastes should they wish to purchase anything.

Once the Unlock peer tutoring initiative has been launched, it will take place in the Unlock cafe. The hope is that the cafe is an inspiring, stress-free, environment that facilitates times of focus, but also times of relaxation. In the future, the games area will be closed while the tutoring sessions are taking place, in order to not distract, but will open afterwards for some fun.

Youth Cafe Relaunch

We have recently relaunched our youth cafe after closing over summer time. We have relaunched with many new exciting additions. These include brand new ice cream toppings such as Biscoff & Oreo crumbs, Maltersers and Smarties as well as waffles being added permanently to the menu. In terms of games and activities, we now have an Nintendo Switch, a vast array of board games, and a arts and craft section!

One of the biggest changes is we have now expanded the age range to include year 7 and 8s, so now we serve all youth in high school and college. We are very excited about this change and hope to impact even more young peope.

We are open Tuesdays 3-6:30pm and Thursdays 3:30-6:30pm @The Hub, Forster Avenue, Weaverham, CW8 3BH

Free Beginner Music lessons

We are starting free beginner lessons in guitar, keyboard or drums for youth in high school or college that want to learn a new skill! The lessons will be 30 minutes a week for a minimum of 4-6 weeks, and will take place in the back room of the youth cafe.

Youth can come and hang out in the youth cafe before or after the lesson! Our tutors are young people themselves, talented at their instrument.

If interested, please contact us and we will match you up with a tutor, and agree on a weekly lesson time. If you have Facebook or Instagram, you can direct message us on there @unlocknorthwich. If not, message us via Whatsapp on the Unlock Northwich number: 07476977035

Mental Wellbeing

Through posters around the cafe, and advertising through the schools, we will be more explicitly offering support and  encouraging youth struggling at school to come in and chat to us. We will mainly be there to listen, but also to promote positive mental health where we can and give opportunities to make new friends.
